Review For Dinotasia

Despite a welcome lack of Disneyfied sentimentality - no tears are solicited for banged-up young'uns - the film never acquires a rhythm.
Jeannette Catsoulis-New York Times

Dull, meaningless and pretty frustrating film.
Derek Adams-Time Out

If they're never fully convincing as photo-realistic figures, they're certainly as much good gory fun to watch as any old-school monster kids had to stick with dreary first acts to see.
Alan Scherstuhl-Village Voice

Plays like a series of cut-scenes from a 1997 PlayStation game.
Edward Havens-FilmJerk.com

Dinotasia is narrated by Werner Herzog with his customary shock and awe.
Philip French-Observer [UK]

[A] well-meaning but listless compendium of unconnected prehistoric CG dino-vignettes that is as sure to bore children as it is to bemuse adults.
Adam Lee Davies-Little White Lies

Werner Herzog's grandiose, unintentionally camp narration adds entertainment value, but there's zero educational sustenance in the film's servings of synthetic gore.
Simon Kinnear-Total Film

This decision to avoid treating the dinosaurs as surrogate people for easy identification is both the film's boldest move and the source of much of its problems.

Watch Laura Movie with Full HD Format

This adaptation of Vera Caspary's suspense novel was begun by director Rouben Mamoulien and cinematographer Lucien Ballard, but thanks to a complex series of backstage intrigues and hostilities, the film was ultimately credited to director Otto Preminger and cameraman Joseph LaShelle (who won an Oscar for his efforts). At the outset of the film, it is established that the title character, Laura Hunt (Gene Tierney), has been murdered. Tough New York detective Mark McPherson (Dana Andrews) investigates the killing, methodically questioning the chief suspects: Waspish columnist Waldo Lydecker (Clifton Webb), wastrel socialite Shelby Carpenter (Vincent Price), and Carpenter's wealthy "patroness" Ann Treadwell (Judith Anderson). The deeper he gets into the case, the more fascinated he becomes by the enigmatic Laura, literally falling in love with the girl's painted portrait. As he sits in Laura's apartment, ruminating over the case and his own obsessions, the door opens, the lights switch on, and in walks Laura Hunt, very much alive! To tell any more would rob the reader of the sheer enjoyment of watching this stylish film noir unfold on screen. Everything clicks in Laura, from the superbly bitchy peformance of Clifton Webb (a veteran Broadway star who became an overnight movie favorite with this film) to the haunting musical score by David Raskin. Long available only in the 85-minute TV version Laura has since been restored to its original 88-minute running time. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Review For Laura

Few movies make you feel dirtier, and so perversely grateful for the pleasure.
Keith Uhlich-Time Out New York

A highly polished and debonair whodunit.
-TIME Magazine

Less a crime film than a study in levels of obsession, Laura is one of those classic works that leave their subject matter behind and live on the strength of their seductive style.
Dave Kehr-Chicago Reader

A hypnotic and deathlessly interpretable experience.
Michael Atkinson-Village Voice

Gene Tierney makes an appealing figure as the art executive and Vincent Price is convincing as a weak-willed ne'er-do-well.
Variety Staff-Variety

The plot is deliberately perfunctory, the people deliciously perverse, and the mise-en-scène radical.
-Time Out

Preminger deals in facades, with how perception cheats us, right down to the ideal image of Laura as a portrait. (Cinémathèque Annotations on Film)
Matthew Sorrento-Senses of Cinema

Masterpiece: with time, Preminger's second film has become richer in texture and deeper, more ambiguous in meaning than most noirs of the 1940s.
Emanuel Levy-EmanuelLevy.Com

Preminger made darker, more characteristically noir films than this, but his only movie that's as good, or perhaps better, is Anatomy of a Murder.
Philip French-Observer [UK]

Will leave you drunk with delight.
-This is London

The dialogue is stinging and the performances to be savoured in a haunting study of romantic obsession that deserves its return to the big screen.
Allan Hunter-Daily Express

Laura is still every bit as gripping in 2012.
Peter Bradshaw-Guardian [UK]

A thrilling, absorbing and original example of the genre; it's also beautifully shot, pure escapist entertainment.
Sarah Cronin-Electric Sheep

Not only one of Preminger's greatest, but one of the great noirs.
Matthew Thrift-Little White Lies

OK, the plot verges on absurdity - but who cares?
Philip Kemp-Total Film

This interesting film noir has more working for its final half than in its first.
Wesley Lovell-Cinema Sight

Expertly paced, gripping, and dripping with sensuality, Otto Preminger's Laura has hardly aged a day.
Gabe Leibowitz-Film and Felt

O roteiro é, na melhor das hipóteses, medíocre, mas a direção sombria de Preminger, a música-tema e as atuações de Webb e Price transformam este filme em um marco importante do nascente noir.
Pablo Villaca-Cinema em Cena

Great suspense.
Cole Smithey-ColeSmithey.com

It is the sleekest of murder mysteries, and ahead of its time -- not least in having a gay suitor for Laura, and possibly two.

Review For The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

It frequently seems as though Jackson was less interested in making The Hobbit than in remaking his own fabulously successful Lord of the Rings series.
Christopher Orr-The Atlantic

My first thought in watching The Hobbit was: Do we really need this movie? It was my last thought, too.
Peter Rainer-Christian Science Monitor

To its own narrative detriment, "The Hobbit" works hard to lay the framework for what will follow. Certainly that's one way to set out on a trilogy, but it's surely not the best.
Lisa Kennedy-Denver Post

There's no denying the majesty in Peter Jackson's visuals but he's taken a relatively slim children's book and stretched it beyond the limits.
Richard Roeper-Richard Roeper.com

The repeated iterations of fight, flight and respite here get wearing. Especially perhaps because, with Jackson's fetish for detail, they take more time to watch on screen than to read about.
Liam Lacey-Globe and Mail

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" has finally arrived, not on wings of gossamer fancy but with a hairy-footed thud.
Ann Hornaday-Washington Post

There are worse ways to kill time, sure; it's just that there is, alas, so much time to kill.
Will Leitch-Deadspin

"Unexpected Journey" runs nearly three hours. That gives Jackson plenty of time to revive its magic [which he does] by triggering our good will toward the "Rings" trilogy. He evokes the trilogy's tone and its rhythms.
Carla Meyer-Sacramento Bee

As great as Serkis is, he can't begin to make 'The Hobbit' look anything but short.
Al Alexander-The Patriot Ledger

The odd thing about the saying "too much of a good thing" is that it acknowledges the fact that, something, in general, is composed of an overabundance of excellence.
Bill Gibron-Film Racket

The Hobbit may not be as memorable as the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but it's a mostly faithful adaptation that sticks to the same tones and themes of the source material.
Jeremy Lebens-We Got This Covered

It's a journey that any fan of Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" Trilogy should enjoy.
Wesley Lovell-Cinema Sight

Peter Jackson's return to Middle Earth feels familiar and unfulfilling.
Tom Glasson-Concrete Playground

If Jackson had focused simply on Bilbo's party and their attempts to get a proper homeland for the dwarves, 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' would have been a leaner, more engaging tale.
Dan Lybarger-KC Active

Fans of J.R.R. Tolkien may like sitting through a 169 minute film, that easily could have been trimmed by at least 50 minutes. But, I was constantly aware of the long running time.
Paul Chambers-Movie Chambers

As it stands, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is a thoroughly engaging, often rip-roaring, old school yarn. It's got scope, excitement, and above all, emotional heft.
Bill Gibron-PopMatters

Whenever this movie suffers from lengthy prequel-itis and a weighty sense of expectations, it falls short. Still, for much of its 165 minutes, this epic has enough small moments and deft touches that it tugs you along with the power of a good story.
Brian Gibson-Vue Weekly (Edmonton, Canada)

An Unexpected Journey offers an unparalleled visual spectacle
Mary Clare Waireri-Fan The Fire

a drag-down, mildly diverting entertainment
Jay Antani-Cinema Writer

When the dwarves turn up mob-handed, kicking off a night of boisterous revelry, the laboured jests and jollity seem to go on forever. And the combination of dwarves, forced humour and familiar faces off the telly turn the occasion into bad panto.
Jason Best-Movie Talk

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey had me with the dulcet melancholy of displaced Dwarves, yearning to be home.
Blake Howard-2UE That Movie Show

Slower out of the gates than a three-legged donkey... but it gets better, and fans won't mind this slowburn beginning because, hey, it's Middle Earth.
Matt Neal-The Standard

It's the behaviour of the supposedly affable dwarves that makes this particular 'adventure' such a punishing experience.
Charlie Lyne-Ultra Culture

...a jaw-dropping visual carnival courtesy of Peter Jackson and company!
Michael A. Smith-MediaMikes

Very, very (very) slow in the early going, but Peter Jackson does get there (eventually).
Clint O'Connor-Cleveland Plain Dealer

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is a story stretched too thin; dragged out by drudging slowness and obvious padding that its handful of thrilling action sequences can't improve.

Review For Iron Man 3

The trouble is that, as the plot quickens, any cleverness withdraws, to make way for the firecrackers of the climax. That is not Black's forte, and his movie duly slumps into a mess.
Anthony Lane-New Yorker

Shane Black excels at writing witty, self-referential, pop-infused banter, and there is no actor working today who is better suited to delivering it than Robert Downey Jr.
Christopher Orr-The Atlantic

Iron Man 3 feels like an exploitative mulching of present-day anxieties. The script is ambitious but not wise enough to be rightfully cathartic. It's more Cuisinart than art.
Lisa Kennedy-Denver Post

The action, directed by Shane Black, ranges from passable to interminable.
Peter Rainer-Christian Science Monitor

Black is good at giving his heroes a morbid, self-hating edge and even better at coming up with hateable villains.
David Edelstein-Vulture

After a while, the steady diet of tongue-in-cheek starts to taste monotonous as day-old gum.
Liam Lacey-Globe and Mail

A generous step up from its predecessor, the various twists aren't exactly as expected, but you'll still have fun getting there.
Wesley Lovell-Cinema Sight

Packed with virtually non-stop action from start to finish, "Iron Man 3" is the best film in the "Iron Man" series and among the best Marvel-inspired films ever
Michael A. Smith-MediaMikes

Features an interesting, angst-ridden psychological sub-text rarely found in blockbuster films.
Bruce Bennett-Spectrum (St. George, Utah)

This may be the lightest, most entertaining cinematic exploration of post-traumatic stress disorder yet.
John Serba-MLive.com

The finale is explosive, but Iron Man has some rusty patches too
Robert Denerstein-Movie Habit

The way Black surrenders the movie's edginess to the generic onslaught of flashy visuals is a mild disappointment.
Sean Means-Salt Lake Tribune

A regression in the usual strong work from Marvel Studios, Iron Man 3 suffers from director Shane Black's mishandling of this popular superhero character.
Matthew Pejkovic-Matt's Movie Reviews

The elements that were once daring are starting to feel statistically approved - and tired.
Margot Harrison-Seven Days

Terrorist and anxiety attacks prove equally dismaying to Marvel's 'man in a can' in this witty, satisfying sequel.
John Beifuss-Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN)

Iron Hot with action
Diana Saenger-ReviewExpress.com

... best Iron Man yet thanks to Shane Black, who pushes characterization, clever plot twists, not computer effects ... Downey, for a change, drops his guard, shows the heart beneath the armor
Glenn Lovell-CinemaDope

It's the funniest superhero film, and it doesn't feel like it's pandering. That's the power of Downey, Jr. and now Shane Black.
Jeff Bayer-The Scorecard Review

A palatable entertainment... rests on the strength of the principals
Rubin Safaya-Cinemalogue.com

Are you sick of superheroes? No, of course you are not, cinema audiences are lapping up any caped crusader movies. But I am, especially when Tony Stark is an angst ridden shambles suffering from performance anxiety. What's so super about that?
Brian Henry Martin-UTV

Yeah...it's good.
Bob Grimm-Reno News and Review

We can trust in Tony Stark, even when he's falling apart and can't trust himself.
Michael Smith-Tulsa World

For anyone familiar with Shane Black's work, it's not long before a strong case of deja vu sets in.
David Medsker-Bullz-Eye.com

It's nothing but a collection of superhero clichés made marginally palatable by Robert Downey Jr.'s endless charm and charisma.
Al Alexander-The Patriot Ledger

The real enjoyment here comes when Shane Black's sensibilities take over during the middle hour.
Garth Franklin-Dark Horizons

Review For Family Weekend

Don't let the innocuous title fool you. Family Weekend is a subversive little comedy in which a tightly wound misfit of a teenage girl, fed up with watching her family spiral out of control, subjects her parents to an extreme intervention.
David Martindale-Dallas Morning News

The unconventional dysfunctional family has now become a Hollywood convention. It is familiar to a fault.
Tom Long-Detroit News

For a long while, director Benjamin Epps goes for breakneck farce; at its best, this is a batty mixture of family-values editorial and teen spoof.
Farran Smith Nehme-New York Post

We're sitting there, trapped. An angry little teenager's yelling at us. And we're not having any fun at all.
Stephen Whitty-Newark Star-Ledger

The script, by Matt K. Turner, is loaded with contradictions, its hollow flirtation with subversion amount to airplane pablum.
Andy Webster-New York Times

What keeps the film afloat is the buoyant young cast, with Rulin especially watchable as the tightly wound lead and Joey King as her younger sister, who's an aspiring actress.
Mark Olsen-Los Angeles Times

Watching "Family Weekend" you feel as trapped as the tied-up parents, wondering, when will it all end?
James Plath-Movie Metropolis

A couple twists short of a good comedy; this film seems like more of a TV prime time test spin for the cast and crew than a fully developed film.
Ron Wilkinson-Monsters and Critics

Family Weekend is just as simpy as its plot sounds, but under Alabama-born director Epps, making his feature directing debut, this comedy skips along on good intentions with actors who put more into the characters than they deserve.
Dann Gire-Daily Herald (IL)

An enjoyably leftfield oddball comedy.
Mark Adams-Screen International

Anarchic, silly, witless, cartoonish and unsophisticated despite lively performances by the talented Olesya Rulin and Joey King.
Avi Offer-NYC Movie Guru

Teen tries to repair dysfunctional family in so-so comedy.
S. Jhoanna Robledo-Common Sense Media

An appealing film about the rigors of parenting and misperception of what it takes to be a parent.
Wesley Lovell-Cinema Sight

Feels longer than just two days
Robert Denerstein-Movie Habit

In need of a more judicious editor and a game plan to approach the steady erosion of marriage with a profound hit of honesty, not just a sitcom-style presentation of forced therapy.
Brian Orndorf-Blu-ray.com

Who was "Family Weekend" made for? Beats the hell out of me.
Dustin Putman-DustinPutman.com

Despite the occasional descent into clumsy farce, it largely succeeds in creating its own space and providing a pleasingly different teen perspective on life.
